Custom Web Site Design

The Internet is an important tool. What was once just a source of communication is now not only a monstrous business generator, but also a critically important aspect of any business. How so? It is fairly standard for any company or organization to have a web site today, whether they use it to sell a product or simply to provide information. Rarely will you hear the question “Do you have a web site?” anymore. Rather, the question “What is your web site address?” is far more likely to come up in business related conversation.

As it is expected for most everyone to have a web site, custom design can be an important aspect when considering the creation of one. Custom web sites are original. Unlike templates, which are basically frames in which information is placed, custom web sites are completely new and different looking.  With a template it is possible to make it look like your own by replacing stock photos and logos with those from your own company, but it is still fairly easy to spot one when you see it. However, if you want your web site to stand out from everybody else's, it will not be very easy working with a template. This is where custom web site design can really work for you.

There are an abundance of companies out there who are willing to create a custom web site, and there are many aspects of the site you should want to consider. The idea is to make your web site look professional–not like a high school student's class project. Most people want what they are looking for right away. This means they will not wait for a slow loading page, so it is important to keep the load time to a minimum. This might mean optimizing the text and images on the page for the web, cutting out special effects that might affect you negatively and using proper code.

Free web hosting is a major mistake in creating a web site. Granted, you are given some control to customize how you want it, it is completely unprofessional looking and lacks any seriousness you would want people to find in your company. Even if you can make the web site look professional, that free host name tagged on the web site address will diminish any credibility you might have otherwise established. Take the time to create and register a domain name with a professional domain host. The same goes for email addresses. Do not use free email host companies if you wish to be taken seriously. Both of these are critical mistakes, especially if the web site is used to sell something. Customers will not be willing to do business with a company that is too cheap to buy a domain name.

Disabling the right click of the mouse can be annoying to anyone using the web site. If someone is used to navigating their way through the web via the right click, whether to bookmark a page or to go back to the last one, they may find themselves irritated at the disabled right click and leave your site as easily as they entered.

The importance of a custom web site design is that it is made specifically for you and does not look like every other site on the Internet. So make sure it serves your company's best interest and is pleasing to the eye. Choosing the average or the free may be easy and save time or money, but will have a major affect on your traffic and the business that comes from it. Remember, you want to make the web site easy for people to use and not a frustration to them.
