Custom Airbrushed Clothes

Customization has become very popular in society today, and as we are all different from each other with varying likes and wants, why shouldn't it? When buying a new car, there are dozens of options we have to select from to make it exactly how we want it. We also customize computers, cell phones and even our fast food (as the Burger King slogan “Have it Your Way” would suggest). So it comes as no surprise that we would customize our clothing as well. Nobody wants to walk down the street and see a mirror of their clothes walking towards them. We want to be unique! Stemming from this wave of customization in clothing is the art of airbrushing.

Custom airbrushed clothes are a great way to stand out in a crowd. Like any other clothing you would wear, the airbrushing says something to everyone looking at it; but in this case, it says something specific about you. Asking how clothing can be customized is like asking how people can be themselves. There is no right or wrong way to have your clothing custom airbrushed, it's all about opinion.

There are two types of custom airbrushed clothing: the clothing created by an artist, and personally customized clothing. A new wave of clothing by professional designers like Blair Bauer has made its way into stores such as Barney's. These are clothes that may have started as bland, everyday material and have been completely overhauled with custom airbrushing done by the artists, as a way to express themselves. Although these clothes are sold in department stores, some still maintain the unique quality that is expected of custom airbrushed clothes. While a certain style or picture may be mass produced, not all of them roll through a line of machines in a warehouse, leaving every one looking exactly the same. Some artists airbrush clothes individually, giving each and every piece a unique quality.

The other type is customization of the clothing more personal to the customer. This method allows them to request specific details of the artist, such as giving them a photo they want airbrushed onto the clothing. This type of customization is great for those who not only want something unique, but want to take part in creating it. In this case the customer also gets exactly what he or she wants airbrushed on the clothes, and won't have to pick from a set of already produced clothing.

Any kind of clothing can be custom airbrushed. While shirts seem to be the most popular, many other articles of clothing like hats, jackets, dresses or pants can be airbrushed to stand out as well. Anything can be airbrushed onto the clothing. While one person might have a picture of a cartoon character or a portrait of someone that matters to them airbrushed onto a shirt, another could have their name or some sort of message displayed.

Airbrushed clothing isn't just a piece of material that covers your body. It's a statement, made by either the artist who created it or the person who choose the airbrushing.
